Great Opportunities Often Appear As Problems

Great Opportunities Often Appear As Problems

Here is an interesting quote I stumbled onto today.

"We are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems."

--John W. Gardner: Former Secretary of health, education and welfare

Thinking manI think this quote applies to many things in life—like today’s real estate market. As a real estate professional, I strive to provide my clients with options to help them make better decisions. Often that involves solving problems: financing, valuation, inspection issues, etc. Sometimes it requires understanding the underlying client motivations for buying and selling and then approaching the situation from a broader perspective than just buying or selling a home.

In today’s market, we sometimes have to be creative to adequately serve our client’s needs and interest. And being willing and able to dig into the tough issues can reveal some of the best opportunities. It may involve a little more work, maybe even a lot, but a little change in perspective and approach can go long way....

Wisdom of Michelangelo

Wisdom of Michelangelo

The DavidHis full name was Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni. With a name like that it’s easy to understand why he is best known simply as Michelangelo. Most people know of him as the great Italian painter, sculptor and poet. But what many do not know is that he was also a very wise man. The following is a quote of one of the many pearls of wisdom that Michelangelo left behind.

“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short, but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark.”

  Michelangelo (1475– 1584)

This quote has a special meaning for me because I have never been afraid to think big and dream big. Over the years, however, I have learned to temper my dreams in a practical way that helps to keep me to stay a little more grounded. I still think big but I try to keep an eye on what’s in front of me and one of my most important goals is to make peace with what is.

Many have said that our greatest achievements often lie just outside our comfort zone. How about you? Do you think and dream big or are you playing it safe?
