Colorado Rocky Mountain Rainbow
I encountered an incredible rainbow yesterday. I was driving on highway 93 between Golden Colorado and Boulder. It’s a beautiful drive that follows along the edge of the Front Range. There were thick black clouds out to the east over the Denver Metro area where it seemed to be raining heavily.
Across the edge of the mountains the clouds were breaking up amid intermittent sunshine and rain. I was expecting a rainbow to pop up any moment when it seemed to instantly appear. It was a brilliant spectrum of colors and very bright. Unfortunately, it was some distance before I had an opportunity to pull over.
When I finally was able to pull over I snapped a few shots. None seemed to capture the original brilliance of the colors when I first saw it. Even still, I managed to get a few decent shots. Someday, perhaps, I’ll find the end of the rainbow. Until then, I’ll settle for photographs.
