Introduction to LEED Green Building Certification System
Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design known more commonly as LEED is a green building certification system developed and managed by the U.S. Green Building Council.
LEED is a comprehensive set of verification systems, processes and metrics to assess buildings, homes and communities with regard to a variety of energy and environmental related issues including energy-efficiency, water efficiency, carbon dioxide emissions, indoor air quality and other environmental issues related to building sites.
Architects and builders all across the country are using LEED to construct state-of-the-art environmentally responsible buildings and homes.
The presentation below is an introduction to LEED and provides some sample projects along with the green performance characteristics achieved. I high level introduction to the certification process is also provided along with a summary of the key tools used to manage LEED projects.
