Important Information About Radon for Home Buyers and Sellers

January was declared National Radon Action Month by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Radon is a naturally occurring gas that can enter the home through cracks in the foundation or from the crawl space under the home. It is a serious issue: Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. Every year approximately 21,000 people die from lung cancer caused by radon.
In support of the EPA’s National Radon Action Month, I am posting a series of articles on the subject. In my last article, I talked about radon mitigation. For this article, I am posting a very informative video on the subject produced by the EPA. The information provided will help remove some of the mystery.
Testing is easy and low-cost. And if mitigation is required, it is also cost-effective in contract to the potential health risks. For additional information, you can download a copy of the Home Buyer’s and Seller’s Guide to Radon. In my next post, I’ll cover some additional radon information resources.
