Red Rocks: Boulder Colorado’s Garden of the Gods

Red Rocks: Boulder Colorado’s Garden of the Gods

On the west side of Boulder at the end of Pearl Street is the trail head to Red Rocks, Boulder’s Garden of the Gods. A short hike up a steep hill leads to a huge out-crop of red rocks comprised of sandstone.

The views are incredible looking out over the city of Boulder and the plains below. With this posting I am going to show the photographs of the rocks looking up. In another post I’ll show the photographs looking down over Boulder. Enjoy!

John, I've been to Colorado several times and it is a beautiful place, as a matter of fact my first road trip was with my cousin and a friend on the way to California by way of  Colorado...haven't made it to the Garden of the Gods yet.

Hi John,

Wow!  Those rock formations are cool.  I guess that is why they call it Boulder!  Thanks for sharing your photos!

Gorgeous photos. You live in such a beautiful region. I guess there is no mystery as to why they call it Boulder.

Hi John, as little gal I'd collect rocks and put them in my pocket to place in a special place, in fact now being a mid century gal I still do! These are way to big for me to collect or maybe my pockets are too small :)

Thanks for sharing your stunning photos of one of my favorite things.

I still have my little Garden of the Gods postcard booklet that I bought in the Summer of 1973. Two friends and drove the west in a brand new 1973 Buick Apollo. Those were the days of free-wheeling and having fun without having to worry so much about anything if you just wanted to pull over to the side of the road, set up a tent, and take a snooze. Sure wouldn't do that today!
