Wisdom of Michelangelo
His full name was Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni. With a name like that it’s easy to understand why he is best known simply as Michelangelo. Most people know of him as the great Italian painter, sculptor and poet. But what many do not know is that he was also a very wise man. The following is a quote of one of the many pearls of wisdom that Michelangelo left behind.
“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short, but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark.”
–Michelangelo (1475– 1584)
This quote has a special meaning for me because I have never been afraid to think big and dream big. Over the years, however, I have learned to temper my dreams in a practical way that helps to keep me to stay a little more grounded. I still think big but I try to keep an eye on what’s in front of me and one of my most important goals is to make peace with what is.
Many have said that our greatest achievements often lie just outside our comfort zone. How about you? Do you think and dream big or are you playing it safe?

I've studied Michelangelo my whole life and his background, life, art, and the way he approached projects. It was easy because I was raised in Italy.
Since I'm a writer, producer, and marketer, Michelangelo is a good fit as a mentor. I learned from him to immerse myself in everything about a project. I call it immersion therapy. Out of that method has come incredible amounts of knowledge, ideas that I would have never been able to imagine on my own, and BIG action. My greatest successes have been a result of following his teaching.
When I don't have the time or budget to use his method, it never works as well.
Have you heard of the historical novel "The Agony and the Ecstasy" by Irving Stone? My favorite book and of course it's about the life of Michelangelo.

Hi John! One of my best attributes is the ability to dream big! Often times I do get a little lost in the "big" dream and find myself needing to focus on today to get there tomorrow!

Excellent blog John. In fact, Gordon and I are about to embark on buying a new home. It's beautiful, a little more expensive, yet 4.5% is hard to beat. Michelangelo's quote is helpful today.
