Rocky Mountain Flowers

Rocky Mountain Flowers

Lily Lake is just a short distance from the base of Long’s Peak in Larimer County Colorado. I took these photos on a hike around the lake a few days ago. It's about a 45 minute to an hour's drive from Boulder depending on what route you take.

I was playing around with the extended zoom on the camera and managed to squeeze off a couple of good shots. I love photographing flowers and the extended zoom takes it to a whole new level.

The fibers and finer detail really come alive in the photos. The last shot captured an ant going about its business. It’s the simple things in life that bring out the greatest joy.

Wow-super closeups, John. I'm envious of your getting out to hike. I'm hoping to squeeze a trail run in this evening, but a longer hike will have to wait a while.

Oh wow. Check out the ant! And the fuzz on the flowers. Excellent details. And I'm SO jealous of your extended zoom lens! I'm going to start pouting soon!

Hi John, The Pasque Flowers are one of my favorites.  You captured them beautifully and I especially like the ant!  I've been wanting to get a least one new lens to bring subjects closer; it opens up a whole new world of photography!

John, I lived in Westminster Colorado for 15 years but I don't ever remember seeing that beautiful flower.

Who would think that a single flower and a single ant could produce such beauty? You have a wonderful eye and thank goodness for the zoom.
