Pure Iris

Pure Iris

I have this thing with flower close-ups. I love photographing the inner beauty at the heart of the flower. I always see Mother Nature smiling at me. Sometimes I can almost hear them speaking to me.

The shots below were taken of flower in a vase in the lobby of Columbine Unity Church in Boulder. I dropped by yesterday for a chat with the minister and noticed the flowers were calling out to me as I walked by.

I’m now in the habit carrying my camera with me almost everywhere I go so snapped a few shots. The tough part was deciding which ones to post since they all looked great.

Hi John, Very nice photos, indeed. This is a Lilly isn' t it? It looks like it to me. These flowers are very popular in CA in cut arrangements. I am partial to the pure white ones. I grew about 30 plants in a perfect soil medium and I had over 200 blooms that were so giant sized and so fragrant that although I love them, the smell was overwhelming and started to make me a bit nauseous. Too much of a good thing to me  is normally quite wonderful, LOL. I would do again anyway. I removed the bulbs after they bloomed to dry them and ended up giving them away to a friend of mine.
