Boulder to Estes Park Bike Ride-Part 2 of 2

Boulder to Estes Park Bike Ride-Part 2 of 2  (Visit Part 1 of 2 for more photos)

On the ride back to Boulder I got caught in a massive thunderstorm, but found shelter in the nick of time. It was nice to just take a nice long break before descending on the 15 mile downhill into Lyons. The ride back along Hwy 36 had a little more traffic than I care for but I made it without any incident.

Overall the ride went really smooth. In fact, it went much better than I had expected. I’ve trained hard over the last month or so and it paid off. Maybe I didn’t set any records, but I proved to myself once again that that with practice, patience and careful planning I can do just about anything I set my mind to.

John, that was some awesome scenery.  Don't know if my poor legs could handle the hill & dale any more.

John, good thing you trained hard.  But, you had some tremendous incentive.  That scenery is awesome, a word that is overused, but in reality, perfect for the shots you shared with us.

Hey John,

Welcome back safe.. training does pay off. I'm back running for the past 5 weeks after a a long absence after cancer treatment and just being fearful and lazy.... I do 7km on Thursday....wish me luck.

Your posts inspire me...

My brother-in-law Bobby rides that area all the time on his mountain bike - he has sent photos, it is indeed a beautiful area!

Thank you everyone...It was a great feeling to complete the ride safe and sound. I am planning to do it a couple of more times before the winter weather sets in. I also plan to cycle trail ridge along the highest peaks in the park.
